Infertility - Tackling the underlying problems

Underlying problems of fertility and infertility
Since infertility nearly always has a physical cause, the Life FertilityCare programme aims to identify and address the underlying causes of infertility. On an individual basis treatment is prescribed in order to restore the couples reproductive health and improve the opportunity for conception to occur naturally.

This approach to infertility can be as effective as artificial reproductive technologies - even more so. It tackles the underlying cause of the problem and restores health. It is morally unobjectionable.

FertilityCare can be learned at any time in the childbearing years however, if a couple use FertilityCare from the beginning of their sexual relationship they have tremendous insight into their fertility potential before they try to conceive. This is extremely beneficial in a society where one couple in six will experience some difficulty conceiving*. The earlier that problems are identified and treated, the greater the likelihood of a successful outcome.

Assessment for the Life FertilityCare Programme
A thorough assesment is the first step towards getting started on the programme. It is important to complete our assesment form and provide us with th initial information we need to be able to advise you on whether or not you would benefit from the Life FertilityCare programme.

After assessment for suitability for treatment, the couple will be taught to chart.

The programme may benefit single women wishing to improve their health.

See: Preconceptual Health and Natural Family Planning.

  Evaluation and Treatment for Infertility

Evaluation for the Life FertilityCare Programme
The couple will be taught to chart the menstrual cycle using the Creighton Model system. The information thus gained may itself enable the couple to achieve pregnancy.

Charting is a helpful diagnostic tool and is vital in identifying problems, timing investigations and monitoring response to treatment.

The Life FertilityCare Physician will explain to the couple during medical consultations, the appropriate treatment and/or the need for further investigation.

Fertility/Infertility Treatment
When adequate information about the hormonal and/or organic problems that underlie the fertility disturbance has been obtained - then a comprehensive plan of treatment can be drawn up.

The key to successful treatment for fertility and infertility is in the detailed analysis of the specific problems and the ability to plan a comprehensive course of treatment.

Success
The likelihood of success varies according to a couple's profile. The overall average for infertility is 25% for a woman aged 35 years with a history of 5 years trying to conceive.

Success rates are less for older women, in cases where pelvic adhesions or endometriosis are severe and for men with very low sperm counts.

In cases of recurrent miscarriage up to 80% of couples can hope for a successful outcome with treatment.
